Magata, it echoed in my head. I wouldn't forget this name anytime soon. It was special and I had never heard it before. Who did it belong to? It belonged only to her. The girl who sat in the library every day. Her regular spot was between the philosophy and science bookshelves. She had rust-red hair that came down to her chin, wore round glasses, and apparently loved skirts. Every day she wore a different one. She reminded me of a wood elf with all her glittering piercings on her ear and deep blue eyes. I had never dared to talk to her, until yesterday.

I had to borrow one of the philosophy books for my course with Professor Finley. Of course, she was sitting right in front of it. I walked slowly to the shelf when a floorboard creaked. She startled, "Good Lord, you scared me," she blurted out. "You can call me Aiden." I had no idea where this sudden confidence came from, but it vanished as quickly as it had come. I felt myself blushing. She laughed softly, and I felt the whole room brighten. Everything felt lighter, even though we were in a small, oppressive corridor. "My name is Magata, nice to meet you, Aiden," she said with a small smile. I stared at her for quite a while. "Can I help you with something?" she asked, pulling me back to reality. "Um, well... I need to get to this shelf here..." Great job, Aiden, couldn't you have sounded any more insecure. She stood up and made room for me. I felt her eyes on the back of my neck but tried not to let it show. Where the book should have been, there was a gap. Damn, why did I choose this exact book. A special edition that only exists once in this library, great idea, Aiden. Now I looked like the ultimate fool. Suddenly she was standing next to me. "Are you looking for this perhaps?" She held out her book to me and indeed it was the special edition. "Yeah, uh, that's what I was looking for. But I can take another one if you need this one... no problem..." Of course it was a problem, but what was I supposed to do? Embarrass myself even more in front of her. "No, you can have it, I'm already reading it for the second time. I'll just put a note inside quickly, if that's okay. That way I can remember where I was when you bring it back," she said, looking deep into my eyes. I was puzzled as she pulled out a pen and paper. She scribbled something on the post-it and stuck it in the book.

So here I sat now, with the book in my lap and the post-it in my hand. She had written her number on it and her name. Magata. Should I text her? My hand trembled as I slowly typed her number into my phone.

Aiden: Hi, it's me, God

What a dumb joke. I wanted to delete the message immediately when the three dots appeared, and I held my breath.

Magata: Light of the moon on water forming a road.
